The above is the requirement - I would suggest doing at least one in the month of September and then at least one every 3 months thereafter. Or if you are really gung ho, organize and teach a family home evening each week in September - then you will have one year done! Good luck!

Duty to God - weekly assignment
Develop the habit of reading the scriptures daily. During your 2 years as a deacon, read 1 Nephi through Mosiah in the Book of Mormon. Share with your family a few of the prophetic statements about Jesus Christ.
This totals 95 chapters. If you read one chapter a day, you can finish before Thanksgiving. If you read two chapters a day, you can finish around the time we have General Conference. I encourage you to read two chapters a day and to continue on until you finish the Book of Mormon. I know that you will be blessed, as you do this, with a greater determination and ability to do what is right, and as you do that you will be blessed with greater peace, joy, and happiness in your life.
